Fu. H.E. 1 Supplemental Monitoring Receiver (E 417 N) (HE1 Horchempfänger) |
|
This receiver was used together with the EP2 direction finding receiver to find a spy transmitter operating on a particular frequency. Once the frequency was established by listening through the Fu. H. E. 1, the EP2 would be used in a direction-finding mode to find the compass direction of the transmission. Both the Fu. H. E. 1 and the EP2 had identical frequency scales and ranges. The Fu. H. E. 1 lacks the direction finding hardware of the EP2. These two receivers are often seen in Luftwaffe radio van configurations that monitored entire districts for spy transmitters. Set packaged in 2 portable containers: receiver pack, and accessories pack. There is no specific information on the Internet about this receiver, other than photos of it being used along with EP2 receivers in radio direction finding vans. The internal metal components are constructed from aluminum, making this unit surprisingly light-weight. |
