Ha5K39a

(Hagenuk)

Translated from "Die deutschen Funknachrichtenanlagen bis 1945 - Band 2 "Der Zweite Weltkrieg" by Fritz Trenkle

In 1939 the firm Hagenuk manufactured a 5 watt transceiver named the Ha5K39 for the Kriegsmarine (3.0-6.0 MHz), and the series Ha5K49a, b and c (2.0-5.0 MHz). The b and c versions were also designed for receiving and sending telegraph messages. The transmitter had three stages (modulation stage with a doubling circuit and a power amplifier with 1xRV12P2000 and 1xRL12P10). The tone generator served in a dual role as the microphone amplifier (1x RV12P2000) was configured for A1-operation. The receiver had three stages with three vacuum tubes as an HF band filter, HF stage, detector, and an AF stage (3xRV12P2000). This device can be powered by a vibrating power supply for battery operation or with a mains AC power supply. Every KM radio operator knows this station as it was predominantly used on small ships (patrol boats, etc.,) and on coastal land installations. Similarly, these sets were used on ships and on land by secondary or reserve stations. Also, this transceiver was used on escort vessels where several ships were similarly outfitted, where power failure for radio operation was prevented by the use of battery power. Also Kriegsmarine motorized land reconnaissance forces used this transceiver.
